Who we are
Uncle Sam FC is an independent fan app that tracks American soccer players at
clubs around the world, available as a website and as iPhone and Android apps,
operated by Lasercat Enterprises LLC. It is not affiliated
with or endorsed by U.S. Soccer or any club, league, or publisher. Contact:
info@unclesamfc.com.
What we collect, and why
The app works without an account. Depending on what you use, we store:
- An anonymous device identifier — a random ID created on your
device. It ties your favorites and notification settings to your device and is
not linked to your name unless you sign in. We also record whether it comes from
the website, the iPhone app or the Android app, and when it was first and last
used. We count these IDs to see how many devices use Uncle Sam FC; those counts
are totals only.
- Your favorites — the players you star.
- A push subscription — only if you turn notifications on: the
delivery address your browser's push service assigns (on the website), the push
token Apple assigns to your iPhone (in the iPhone app), or the push token Google's
Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns to the app on your Android phone (in the Android
app). It is stored with your anonymous device identifier and used solely to send
the notifications you asked for.
- Account basics, if you choose to sign in — your email address
(sign-in by emailed code) or, on the website only, your Google account's basic
profile (name, email) via Google sign-in. The iPhone and Android apps offer
sign-in by emailed code only. Used to unlock the features that need an account (favorites
and notifications) and to sync your favorites across your devices. We never see
your Google password.
- Usage analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how
the app is used: which tabs are viewed, how visitors arrive, device and browser
type, approximate location (city or country), and whether visitors take key
actions — turning on notifications, starring a player (and which player),
signing in, or installing the app. Google Analytics sets cookies
and a random identifier to tell visits apart. It is not linked to your name, email
address, or account. It runs only on the website, not in the iPhone or Android
apps.
- Usage counts — on the website and in the iPhone and Android
apps, we count how the app is used: which tabs and pages are opened, which
screen was showing when the app was closed or put in the background, how long
a visit lasted (in broad ranges), which player profiles are viewed, taps on
streaming, news, filter and search features, notifications and widgets that
open the app, the app version, and errors. Each event only adds one to a daily
total for the website, the iPhone app or the Android app. Nothing identifying
is attached to it or stored — no device identifier, account, or IP address — so
these totals can't be linked to you. We also count, once a day, the approximate
city and country each device is using Uncle Sam FC from, worked out from its IP
address when it connects (city data:
IP Geolocation by DB-IP). The address is used
only for that lookup and is not kept; only the daily totals per city and
country are.
We do not collect your precise location or contacts.
The iPhone and Android apps
The apps keep your favorites, settings, and sign-in session in the app's own
storage on your phone. To power the Home Screen widget, the app also saves a small
note on your phone that the widget reads: the ids of the players you starred,
whether you're signed in, and your widget setting. It contains no device
identifier, email address, or sign-in session. The widget fetches the public
match schedule from our server on its own schedule, even when the app is closed,
and keeps a copy on your phone so it can show scores; that schedule contains no
personal data. Deleting the app removes all of this from your phone.
Where it lives
This data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, and is transmitted over
HTTPS. Match and player statistics shown in the app come from a licensed sports-data
API and involve no personal data.
The service providers who process data on our behalf are:
- Supabase — database and sign-in.
- Render — hosting; it serves the site and processes the
requests your browser makes.
- Resend — delivery of the sign-in code emailed to you.
- Apple — delivery of notifications in the iPhone app, if you
turn them on.
- Google — delivery of notifications in the Android app through
Firebase Cloud Messaging, if you turn them on: the app contacts Google for its push
token only then, and Google processes that token and an identifier for the app's
installation to deliver them. Also analytics on the website, and Google sign-in if
you choose it there. While
you're signed out, opening Settings (the ☰ menu button at the top left) in a web browser loads Google's
sign-in button from Google's servers, so Google receives that request (along with
any Google cookies your browser holds); your Google profile is shared with us only
if you sign in with it.
- Stripe — payment processing, if and when paid subscriptions
begin. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never receive or store your full
card number.
What we don't do
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except
the service providers listed above and your browser's push service for delivering
notifications on the website. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its
services at
policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites,
and opt out of Google Analytics with Google's
browser add-on.
Cookies, local storage, and advertising
The website uses your browser's local storage for functional preferences (your
favorites, settings, and sign-in session), plus Google Analytics cookies as described
above. It does not use advertising cookies. Uncle Sam FC currently shows no ads. If advertising is
added in the future, this section will be updated to describe the ad provider, its
cookies, your consent choices (including a consent tool for visitors in the EU/UK
and rights under US state privacy laws), and the effective date above will change.
Deleting your data
- Turning notifications off in Settings (the ☰ menu button at the top left of the app) removes your push subscription.
- Un-starring players removes those favorites.
- To delete everything at once, open Settings and tap Delete my
data. It immediately deletes your favorites, notification settings, and
push subscriptions from our servers and from your device (in the apps, the widget's
note too) — and, if you're signed
in, your account and the data from every device you've signed in on.
- You can also delete your Uncle Sam FC account by email, without the app: write
to info@unclesamfc.com from the address
you sign in with, and we will delete your account and its data within 30 days.
- Google Analytics data isn't tied to your name, email, or account, so it can't
be looked up and deleted per person; Google deletes it on its own retention
schedule.
- Usage counts are daily totals with nothing that identifies a device or a
person, so there is nothing of yours in them to delete.
Children
Uncle Sam FC is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date
